Why Get Married at All Saints Ilkley?
A church wedding will add a spiritual dimension to your marriage. The ceremony includes God and looks to him for help and guidance. God’s blessing is the main attraction for many couples, whatever their beliefs.
All Saints is a beautiful listed building full of history providing a truly meaningful place of prayer in which to make your vows. Our ministers can help you make your wedding personal, memorable and meaningful – you can be involved in making choices about your ceremony.
Preparing for the Service
There are many frequently asked questions; from ‘What do Christians believe about marriage?’ to ‘How do we book the church?’ and ‘What are the legal requirements? Our Wedding Brochure answers all these and more of the questions couples ask us.
The Marriage Service
This begins with the arrival, traditionally of the bride and groom separately. The minister will welcome your family and friends and read an introduction explaining what Christians believe about marriage.
Declarations are made – the promises you make before God, yours friends and families, then turning to each other as bridge and groom you make your vows before exchanging a ring or rings.
You are now proclaimed husband and wife and then follows the readings and the minister will give a short address. Th signing of the register next, followed by prayers, the final hymn and blessing and then your procession out of church.
Readings, Hymns & Music
We have suggested some readings from the Bible together with others (poems/extract from a novel) and these can be found in our Wedding Brochure.

Your Wedding Day
In order to get to know you properly, it would be lovely to see you regularly in church so that when your marriage takes place, we actually know you as friends.
As the big day approaches you will be asked to attend a rehearsal in church. This gives you the change to calm any nerves and ask and have answered any outstanding questions.
We work to maintain a joyful and worshipful atmosphere in the wedding service.
